Binghamton: Benjamin Phillip Nichols, age 69, of Binghamton, NY, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Binghamton General Hospital. "Ben" was born August 8, 1943 in Elmira, NY and was graduated from Odessa-Montour Central School in 1964 and served in the Army Reserves. He was retired from International Salt in Watkins Glen where he was a welder and had been a resident of Watkins Glen for many years before relocating to Binghamton. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. Survivors include his children, Laurie (Mark) Fuller of Newfield, Benjamin (Teresa) Nichols, Jr. of Midland, VA, Robin L. Nichols of Freeville and Heidi (Santiago Restrepo) Nichols of Norman, OK; his sister, Arlene (John) Neale of Vienna, VA; his former wife, Marilyn Swenson; eight grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Lelia Ayers Nichols and Philo Nichols, Sr.; as well as siblings, Bruce Nichols, Virginia Nichols, Philo Nichols, Jr. and Gerry McGuire. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 6th, at the Perkins Funeral Home with Deacon George Kozak officiating. Burial will be private in Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, NY. Friends are invited to call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Memorials are directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
