GRAF, ROBERT F. (Bob)
Genoa: Robert Graf, 90, of Genoa, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2013 in Ithaca. Born Robert Francis Ward in 1922, he was the son of Arline Lucy Graf Ward and Joseph Ward. As an infant he was adopted by his grandparents Lucy and Frank C. Graf. Bob grew up in Auburn and Weedsport and attended schools there. In November 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and received his honorable discharge in February 1946. During World War II he served in Hawaii as a Radio Gunner on the SBD Dauntless Dive Bomber. He was an employee of New York State for 25 years, first in their Pest Control Department (fox trapper) and in 1963 transferred to Cornell University where he ended his career as a farm manager in Equine Isolation for the Veterinary School. He retired in 1983. Bob's loves, besides his family, were the Detroit Tigers, coaching Little League baseball, and watching Syracuse University Basketball. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mary Lou Cuddy Graf of Genoa; his children, Lou Anne (Rick) Clink, Lansing, NY; Mary Ellen Graf, Tolland, CT; Gary Graf, Genoa, NY; and Roger Graf, Enterprise, AL; his grandchildren, Matthew Jones, Lansing, NY; Kayla Clink, Lansing, NY; Robert A. Tarala, Tolland, CT; and Maddy Sue Graf, Enterprise, AL; one sister, Audrey Saya, Weedsport, NY; and several nieces and nephews; one special family friend and family member, Lisa Tarala, Tolland, CT. He was predeceased by his grandparents, parents, and one sister, Marilyn Emerson. Calling hours will be Thursday (June 27), at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 10117 Route 90, Genoa, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., with a simple service immediately following, and military burial honors to follow at Genoa Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish, are encouraged to send donations in memory of Bob Graf to the Genoa Fire Department, 10115 Rt. 90, Genoa, NY 13071.
