Harold E. "Buck" Vandermark, age 76, of Corning, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2013 at the Corning Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare. Born in Danby, NY, he was the son of Walter and Elsie (Haskins) Vandermark. He married Helen J. Beyea in 2007 in Lowman. Buck was a Civil War enthusiast and was a member of the Sons of the Union New York 7th Regiment reenactment group. He was a veteran of the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and received his training at Bainbridge, MD. Buck worked for 16 years at the T & T Bus Lines where he drove charter buses and previously he drove for Swarthout Bus Line in Watkins Glen. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, organizing and serving as president of the Proud Individuals Motorcycle Club. Buck loved going to the Americade in Lake George, NY, earned the Harley Davidson 500,000 mile award, and he belonged to the Gold Wing Riders. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, and boating. He is survived by his wife, Helen; grandson, Ayron Vandermark of Candor; daughters, Robin Stephens-Baglini and Candy Good both of Corning; grandchildren, Nicholas Stephens, Zachary Stephens, Lindsay J. Stephens, Samantha Taylor and Brittany Taylor; great grandchildren, Amber Edwards, Mason Stephens, Dominic O'Dell, and Gabriella O'Dell; nieces and nephews; and canine companion, Duncan. Buck was predeceased by his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Lynn and Elizabeth Vandermark; granddaughter, Jenna Vandermark in 2006; and brother, George Vandermark. Family and friends are invited to call at Carpenter's Funeral Home, LLC, 14 East Pulteney Street, Corning, on Saturday, December 14, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A celebration of Buck's life will follow calling hours there at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Coopers Plains Cemetery.
