Megan Frances Irene Thomas Anderson lost her 19 year battle with breast cancer on Saturday morning February 22, 2014 at Cayuga Medical Center. She was 59. She was a resident of Ithaca, NY, and grew up in East Lansing, MI. She was a graduate of East Lansing High School Class of 1973 and received her A.O.S. in Culinary Arts from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, Class of 1979. Megan touched the life of many on her journey. She was beautiful inside and out, full of grace and always cared about everyone around her. Megan was a true individual and always defined her own life regardless of circumstance. She had a remarkable sense of humor, a passion for crosswords, and loved her family more than anything. She is survived by her husband, Richard W. Anderson; sons, Elliot T. Anderson and Ian J. Anderson, and daughter Caitlin E. Anderson, all from Ithaca; unofficial son and close family friend, Erik Aasen. She is the daughter of the late Ethelbert Thomas and Martha Talbott Thomas, and is also survived by her brother Ralph Cooksey-Talbott of Fremont, CA. A memorial celebration of her life is planned for early spring after Caitlin's graduation from Queens University. More details will be available from family members as planning is finalized. If you would like to express your condolences please consider a donation in her honor to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation at http://www.bcrfcure.org/ or locally to The Cancer Resource Center of the Fingerlakes at http://crcfl.net/.
