Kenneth McComb Obituary
(03/21/1953 - 04/13/2015)
Kenneth R "Butch" McComb, Jr., 62, passed away Monday April 13, 2015 at the Cayuga Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Ithaca, son of the late Kenneth and Sylvia McComb. Butch was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired this year after 25 years of service with the City of Ithaca Department of Public Works. He was a member of American Legion Post #221, Veterans of Foreign War's Post #961 and Fraternal Order of Eagles #1253. Butch loved to play euchre and was an avid fan of the N Y Yankees, Syracuse Orangeman and NASCAR. His greatest joy was being with family, especially his grandson, Jackson. Butch is survived by his loving partner of 18 years, Amy Hughes and her family; daughter and son- in-law, Melissa and Peter Alario; son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Brittany McComb and his grandson, Jackson Alario. He is also survived by his sisters, Patricia McComb and Beverly Hughes and his brother, Edward McComb. In addition to his parents, Butch was also predeceased by his twin sister Kathleen McComb, and siblings Sylvia Hiney, Dora Fish, William McComb, Robert Murinchak, and John Murinchak. A celebration of Butch's life will be held at the VFW Post #961 on Thursday, April 16, 2015 beginning at 4 p.m. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Butch's memory may be made to the VFW Post 961, 423 W. State St., Ithaca, NY 14850. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

April 13, 2025 marked 10 years since you left us. I can still remember that day like it was yesterday, one of the hardest and saddest days of my life. I shed many tears that day and the days and weeks that followed. I did some how find some peace in knowing that you were no longer suffering and no longer in any pain. Watching the struggles you faced day after day just broke my heart. How I wished I could have taken all that away and made everything better for you but unfortunately there are some things in this life that we just can't control or fix...because if I had the power to do it you would still be here today. I have so many great memories of our years together and I will always keep them tucked away in a special place in my heart just for you. I know you are in some great company up there in the heavens above and to be honest I'm pretty sure you're the life of the party up there and that makes me smile. Keeping you in my heart always and forever....I love and miss you and you will always be "my Butchie". Peace and love to you forever and ever my guardian angel. XOXO

April 13, 2024 marked nines years since you left us. I still think of you every day. I miss your voice and that sense of humor that could always make me laugh. I miss your Three Stooges impression and that great belly laugh. I miss everything about you. So much has happened since you left us. Although I know you are in good company I'd rather have you here. Today marks 8 years since you left us and it's still hard to believe. I have so many memories of you and all the times we shared, some good and some not so good but we shared them together and that's all that matters. Boy what I wouldn't give to hear one of your big belly laughs. The master of practical jokes....I miss you so much but I know you are in heavens above in some great company and no longer in pain. I'm sure you are keeping everyone on their toes and keeping the party going. Life isn't the same without you but I will always have a special place in my heart. Well another year has passed and although it's been 7 years it feels like it was just yesterday. Still not a day goes by that I don't think of you. We speak of you often and reflect back on some great memories which often brings a smile to my face. It's hard to believe another year has passed without you here. Six years ago today you left us for a life of no more pain and suffering and I can't be mad at you for that. Our memories of Butch go a long way back. Those were the days of no worries and lots of good times. Still to this day I think of Butch every time I hear a Cat Stevens song. Mac and I served together through basic, ait, and being stationed on okinowa. Seeing him at our favorite watering hole was a good time, guaranteed. Sharing a bottle of taylor claret (which was the only ny wine available) while smoking the good stuff, is a memory that will last forever.
