Ronald R. Nachtigal, 54, died Aug. 15, 2014, in Reno County. He was born Sept. 29, 1959, in Denver, Colorado, the son of Harry M. and Emily J. (Jantz) Nachtigal.

Ron graduated from Arvada High School, Arvada, Colorado, received his B.A. from Colorado Christian College, Lakewood, Colorado, and his master's from Wichita State University. He accepted the Lord Jesus as his Savior in 1983, at the Rocky Mountain Baptist Church, Arvada.

Ron served in the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy Reserve. He was a social worker and case manager at Horizons Mental Health Center and a friendly, outgoing, loving son, father and husband. He spent a lot of time with his son, Luke.

He married Tammy K. Branin Sept. 25, 2010, in Hutchinson. Survivors include: his wife, Tammy of the home; son, Luke of Hutchinson; daughter, Kate Cofer and husband, Daniel of Hutchinson; stepdaughters, Melinda Branin of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Cassandra Branin of Lawrence; parents, Harry and Emily Nachtigal of Hutchinson; sisters, Debra Smith and husband, Gordon of Holton, Connie Wallace and husband, Jimmy of Newton; in-laws, Windell and Eunice Fallis of Hutchinson; two nieces and three nephews.

Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Ron James officiating. Cremation will take place and friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary. Inurnment will follow at the Buhler Municipal Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ron Nachtigal Memorial Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
