Roy 'Cecil' Ghent, 84, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 10, 1928, in Lancaster County, the son of the late James William Ghent and Maebell Pardue Ghent and was the husband of Nadine R. Ghent. Mr. Ghent retired from Springs Industries, was a lifetime member of Hart Masonic Lodge, loved to fish, was a member of White Springs Baptist Church and served our great country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Ghent is survived by a his wife, Nadine R. Ghent, of the home, two daughters, Cecilia Estridge and her husband, Larry, and Becky Hudson and her husband, Kenneth, both of Lancaster; a brother, James Ghent of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Karen Mauney and her husband, Ken, of Boiling Springs, the Rev. Jason Hudson and his wife, Vicki, of Statesville, N.C. and Zachary Estridge of Myrtle Beach, and six great-grandchildren, Jordan, Lauren, Abby, Cassie, Kylie and Seth.
Mr. Ghent was preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. Grady Ghent and a sister, Joyce Gheant.
The celebration of life funeral service for Mr. Ghent will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at White Springs Baptist Church by the Revs. Stephen Owens and Jason Hudson. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The family of Mr. Ghent will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at the Family Ministry Center. The family suggests memorials be made to White Springs Baptist Church, Family Ministry Center, 1249 Grace Ave., Lancaster, SC 29720.
