Edith Watts Obituary

PAGELAND – Mrs. Edith Clamp Watts, 94, passed away on May 1, 2013, at the Agape Hospice House in Rock Hill. Mrs. Watts was born in Aiken County and was a daughter of James Felton and Minnie Bell Clamp. Mrs. Watts grew up in Salley, where she graduated from high school as valedictorian of her senior class and attended Winthrop College in Rock Hill. While visiting a close relative in Pageland, she met and fell in love with the man she married. They celebrated over 56 years of marriage. Mrs. Watts was a passionate gardener, loved cooking and sewing for her family and enjoying reading. She was gifted with many talents as is evident by the beautiful quilts she made for her children. She is survived by her children, Phyllis Deaton (Bob) of Duncan; Samuel Louie Watts Jr. (Lenore) of Lancaster, Amelia Clontz (Joe) of Pageland, Kathryn Hicks of Lancaster, Anna Hill of Lancaster and James Felton Watts (Janice) of Lancaster; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. The celebration of life funeral services are 3 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at First Baptist Church of Pageland, with interment at the church cemetery. She is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Louie Watts Sr. Mrs. Watts was a homemaker and later retired from South Carolina Electric. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pageland. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at First Baptist Church of Pageland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Pageland, P.O. Box 126, Pageland, SC 29728. Baumgartner Funeral Home of Pageland handling the arrangements.

James Felton was my dads brother. I was born and raised in Salley, SC and let there in1957. Did not know Edith well but always heard good things about her from my mom. I am sorry for your loss and may God bless all.
