Bishop Thomas Furman "T.F." Howell Sr., 84, died Thursday, March 28, 2013. He was a son of the late Moses Furman and Bessie Inman Howell. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Betty Rabon Howell; children, Gayle Lutgen of High Point, N.C., Thomas Howell Jr. of Lexington, Ronnie Howell of Sumter, the Rev. Barry Howell of Lancaster, Mike Howell of Timmonsville, Donna Hodges of Summerville and Tricia Jeffers of Blythewood; two sisters, Ruby Dorman and Eulee Lovell, both of Conway; five brothers, L.D. Howell of Bucksport, Bobby Howell of Coward, the Rev. Paul Howell of Sumter, the Rev. Tim Howell of Florence and the Rev. Jerry Howell of Conway; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at Elmwood Avenue Church of God, Columbia, officiated by the Revs. Byron Powers, Barry Howell and Wendell Hendrix, with entombment at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the South Carolina Church of God Home for Children, P.O. Box 430, Mauldin, SC 29662. Shives Funeral Home was in charge.
