Putman, William A. "Bill" - Lexington  
LEXINGTON – Mr. William A. "Bill" Putman passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016, at his home in Lexington surrounded by his loving family. A director of the Lancaster Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission in the 1970s and 80s, Mr. Putman is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lou Rutledge Putman; six children; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kornegay & Moseley Funeral Home was in charge.

PeeGea, Laura Ann (Kelly) - Heath Springs  
HEATH SPRINGS – Laura Ann Kelly PeeGea, 78, died Monday, May 16, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Henry Kelly Sr. and Macey Haile Kelly. Survivors include two daughters, Sheila PeeGea of Portsmouth, Va., and Lynette PeeGea of Charlotte; three sons, Quentin Bernard Kelly of Portsmouth, Jervaughn Carter of York and Torry Shane Carter of Kershaw; three sisters, Pearl Perry, Margie Straughn and Glendora Kelly; five brothers, Larry Kelly, Henry Kelly, David Kelly, Woodrow Kelly and Michael Kelly; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at Mount Zion Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Dr. B.L. Stinson, with burial in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Stewart Funeral Home is in charge.

Perry, Ruth Wilkerson - Lancaster  
LANCASTER – Mrs. Ruth Wilkerson Perry of Lancaster passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born in Hickory Grove, a daughter of the late John Smith Wilkerson and Elma Merritt Wilkerson and was the widow of Robert Paul Perry Sr. A graduate of Winthrop College, Mrs. Perry moved to Lancaster to accept a home economics and science teaching position at Lancaster High School. After teaching several years, she married Bob Perry and worked with him for more than 25 years in their pharmacy. Mrs. Perry had a deep faith and abiding love for her Lord, which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, where she was active in her circle and Sunday school class, volunteered with the children's' choir and taught children's Sunday school. She had a love for music, especially the piano, at which she spent many pleasurable hours. Her family and friends were most important to her, and she loved them unconditionally. She enjoyed giving children in the drugstore little bags of candy, much to their delight. Mrs. Perry was considered a second mother to many of her children's friends. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Perry will be held at 3 p.m. today, May 22, 2016 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Phillips officiating. Burial will be private. Mrs. Perry is survived by a daughter, Lea Perry Mangum and her husband, Dennis, of Lexington; two brothers, John Smith Wilkerson Jr. and his wife, Sandee, of River Hills and Frank "Merritt" Wilkerson and his wife, T.J., of Rock Hill; a sister, Dorothy Wilkerson Pearce of Hickory Grove; grandchildren Robert Paul Perry III, Jason McCarty Perry, Joshua Earl Mangum, Robert Perry Mangum and Emily Caroline Mangum; great-grandchildren Liam Perry, Emma Perry and Robert Paul Perry IV. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Perry was preceded in death by her son Robert Paul Perry Jr.; her brother, William Smith Wilkerson; and three sisters, Nanelle Wilkerson Castles, Carmen Wilkerson Anderson and Johnsie Wilkerson Moore. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. Many thanks to Virginia Carnes and Shirley Blackmon for their devoted care to Mrs. Perry. Phillips, Rebecca Sue (Dutton) - Lancaster  
LANCASTER – Rebecca Sue Dutton Phillips, 75, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Ray Dutton and Geneva Taylor Dutton. She was married to Bobby Ray Phillips. Survivors include her husband of Lancaster; a daughter, Cathy Phillips Boggs of Salisbury, N.C.; a brother, Gene Dutton of Lancaster; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services are 11 a.m. today, May 20, at Lancaster Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Revs. Larry Helm and Brandon McManus, with burial in Lancaster Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. today at Lancaster Funeral Home.
