KERSHAW – Dorothy Lee Duren Martin, 76, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016. She was the daughter of the late McCoy Duren and Amanda Cauthen Duren. Survivors include a daughter, Heather Martin of Birmingham, Ala.; and a sister, Luella Duren of College Park, Ga. Services are 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, at Second Calvary Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Dr. James Coleman, with burial in Highland Height Cemetery. Viewing is 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Crawford Funeral Home. The family is receiving friends at 3888 Fork Hill Road, Kershaw.

Massey, Mary Evelyn "Snookie" (Powers) - Lancaster  
LANCASTER – Mary Evelyn Powers "Snookie" Massey was born Jan. 1, 1934, in Lancaster. She passed from this world on Sunday, May 15, 2016. She was the daughter of the late George William "G.W." Powers and the late Mary Lee Jowers Powers Mattox. Snookie was married to James W. Carr until his death and later married Johnny G. Massey, whom preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing bingo and was also a member of Union Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Cline; two sons, James W. Carr and Jessey W. Massey; two sisters, Betty Murphy (Dan) and Kathy James (Randy); three grandchildren, Tabitha Kennington (Rusty), all of Lancaster, Stacie Caskey (Kent) of Fort Lawn, and Jonathan Jones; seven great-grandchildren; and two aunts, Ruth Powers and Mavis Powers, all of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Massey Jones; a grandson, Louis L. Leach; a great-grandson, James Jones; and two brothers and their wives, Carl R. Powers (Beverly) and James D. Powers "Jim" (Linda). A graveside service for Snookie will be held at 3 p.m. today, May 18, at the Union Baptist Church Cemetery, 5003 Taxahaw Road in Lancaster. The family would like to thank Home Care and Hospice of Lancaster for the loving care they gave to Snookie and her family. Montgomery, Fred Lee - Lancaster  
LANCASTER – Fred Lee Montgomery, 89, died Tuesday, May 17, 2016. He was the son of the late Elliott Frazier and Mary Lee Robinson. Survivors include a son, Robert Montgomery of Lancaster; a daughter, Helen S. Mackey of Lancaster; two stepdaughters, Laura Montgomery and Patricia Jones, both of Lancaster; two sisters, Catherine White and Nannie Lou Curry, both of Lancaster; and three brothers, Bobby Frazier of Lancaster, JB Frazier and Elliott Frazier, both of Washington, D.C. Services are 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at Crawford Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Revs. Robert Smith and Kenneth Cauthen. Viewing is 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at Crawford Funeral Home.
