Bennett, Annie Ruth Nivens (McFarlan) - Lancaster  
Lancaster – Annie Ruth McFarlan Nivens Bennett, 94, died Friday, June 19, 2015.   She was a daughter of the late Charlie and Lillie Griffin McFarlan.  Survivors include six sons, George Ellis Nivens of Lancaster, Jerry Nivens   of  Charlotte, N.C., Otis Bennett Jr. of  Bridgeton, N.J., Tony Bennett of Camden, N.J., Jasper Bennett of  Greensboro, N.C., and Mack Bennett  of  Sewell, N.J.; six daughters,  Mattie Ruth Craig of Lancaster, Lillie Mae Faulkner and Margaret Houston, both of Charlotte, Helen New  of Waxhaw, N.C., Vanessa Tillman of Fort Mill and Delois Bennett of Camden, N.J.; 34 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.  A funeral service will be at noon Wednesday, June 24, at Mount Zion AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Ricky Haile and Pastor John K. Hill officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Memorial Park.  Viewing was held Tuesday, June 23, at Crawford Funeral Home.

Corvi, James Victor - Indian Land  
Indian Land – James Victor Corvi, 93, died Wednesday, June 24, 2015.  He was the son of the late Bernard Corvi and Carmella Delucia Corvi. He was married to Connie Rosa Corvi.    Survivors include his wife, Connie Rosa Corvi; a daughter, Elizabeth Peterson of Fort Mill; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral was held Sunday, June 28, in the chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Lynn Hough, with private burial at Sunset Memory Garden and Mausoleum in Charlotte, N.C.

Goodman, Molly Lou (Hall) - Lancaster  
Lancaster – Molly Lou Hall Goodman, 65, of Lancaster died Monday, June 22, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Denton Webb and Josephine Hall. She was married to the late James Blaine Goodman. Survivors include a son, Wayne Phillips Goodman of Lancaster; six daughters, Brenda Blackmon, Kelly Goodman, Stephanie Redfern and Lynn Jones, all of Lancaster, Mary Ann Mills of Rock Hill and Sherry Szvetecz of Bethlehem, Pa.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Thursday, June 25, in Rich Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Revs. Betty Kay Hudson and George Bolton officiating. Visitation is from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday, June 25, at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home of James and Brenda Blackmon, 2276 Sunshine Road, Lancaster.

Green, Odessa Cora - Kershaw  
Kershaw – Odessa Cora Green, 85, of Kershaw died Wednesday, June 24, 2015. She was a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Green and Eva Wright Green. Survivors include three daughters, Eva Stover and Brenda Baker, both of Heath Springs, and Jackie Vasquez of Kershaw; and five grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, at Providence Baptist Church, with the Revs. Gene Stokes and Mike Hammond officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Griffin, Deborah Lynn (Polston) - Lancaster  
Lancaster – Mrs. Deborah Lynn Polston Griffin, 56, of Lancaster passed away Friday, June 26, 2015, at Hospice of Union County.  She was born Jan. 16, 1959, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Billy Polston and Jessie Lee Railey Polston. Mrs. Griffin enjoyed outdoor activities. She also loved to cook for her family and friends. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Griffin will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at Zion United Methodist Church with the Revs. Mike Burgess and Randy Mellichamp officiating. Burial will be in the Camp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Griffin is survived by a son, Kevin Griffin and his wife, Lauren, of Lancaster; a brother, Kenny Polston and his wife, Ida, of Lancaster; a sister, Janet Webster and her husband, Wayne, of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Tyler Griffin, Caleb Payne, Natalie and Brixton Griffin; and her special friends, Tina Wright and Reagen and Ryleigh Wright. She was preceded in death by a son, Brandon C. Griffin. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Lancaster Funeral Home, and other times at the home on 1191 Potter Road, Lancaster. Griffin Jr., Sanford Woodrow "Sam" - Fort Mill  
Fort Mill – Sanford "Sam" Woodrow Griffin Jr., 77, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015. He was a son of the late Sanford W. Griffin Sr. and Katie Osborne Griffin. Survivors include two sons, Scott Griffin of Lancaster and Stanley Griffin of Rock Hill; a sister, Glenva Griffin Richardson; and four grandchildren.      Visitation was Monday, June 22, at Osceola United Methodist Church fellowship hall and other times at the home of Glenva Richardson, 118 Friendfield Drive, Fort Mill. Services were Monday, June 22 in the church sanctuary, with the Rev. Bob Martin officiating. Burial with military rites was in Unity Cemetery in Fort Mill.       Memorials may be made to Osceola UMC, 6575 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720; to Hospice & Community Care, P.O. WAXHAW, N.C. – Jo Harman Haigler, 61, died Friday, June 26, 2015. She was a daughter of Peggy Dawn Taylor Harman and the late Michael Frances Harman Sr. She was married to Charles "Chuck" Lawrence Haigler. Survivors include her husband; her mother; a son, Marshall Jennings Haigler; two daughters, Harmony Dawn Hollifield and Hannah Haigler Player; a grandson; a brother, Michael Frances Harman Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Amie Dawn Harman of Waxhaw and Della Harman Stoner of Atlanta. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at the chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, by the Rev. Michael Conner. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Knight, Jerry Snipes - Lancaster  
LANCASTER – Mrs. Jerry Snipes Knight, age 82, died Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at the Lancaster Convalescent Center. She was born Feb. 15, 1933, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Milas Wilson Snipes and Almetta Adams Snipes, and was the wife of David Glynn Knight Sr. Mrs. Knight retired from Lancaster County Family Court and was a member of Rich Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Knight is survived by her husband, David Glynn Knight, Sr.; two sons, David G. Knight Jr. and his wife, Susan, and Bill Knight and his wife, Peggy, both of Lancaster; daughters, Deborah K. Starnes and her husband, Richard, of Chesterfield, Va. and Amy V. Knight and Lisa Elizardo of Mineral, Va.; a brother, Jimmy Snipes and his wife, Mary Ann, of Moncks Corner; a sister, Shirley S. Tharpe of The Villages, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Ellen Virtue and her husband, Matt, Mamie Simmons and her husband, Thomas, Hammond Knight, Dylan Knight, Mandy Sharp and her husband, Louis, Luke Knight and his wife, Tina, Kevin Knight and his wife, Tiffany, Ashley Knickerbocker and her husband, David, and Jeremy Starnes and his wife, Meredith; and nine great-grandchildren, Bowden and Emory Catherine Virtue, Emma Simmons, Kensie and Caroline Sharp, Nathan, Justis and Joshua Knickerbocker and Laeklyn Starnes. Mrs. Knight was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Snipes. The celebration of life funeral service for Mrs. Knight will be 3 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Rich Hill Baptist Church, by the Rev. Rod Yow and Dr. Edwin Bagley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the family ministries building and suggest memorial contributions be made to Rich Hill Baptist Church Hand Bell Choir, 1557 E. Koons, Howard Edward - Apopka  
Howard Edward Koons, 88, of Apopka, Fla., died June 21, 2015, at the Quality of Health Care Hospice Center in Winter Garden, Fla. Mr. Koons was born Oct. 5, 1926, in Pottsville, Pa., to Adolph and Bertha Koons. He attended Pottsville High School, and graduated in 1944, where he lettered in volleyball and baseball. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy in that year, and was assigned to Fort Lauderdale Naval Air Station; where he served as a radar specialist through 1946. After his military service, he continued his education at Penn State University as a member of the university gymnastics team and Sigma Phi Sigma fraternity. He graduated in 1950 with a bachelor of arts in physical education. In his career, Mr. Koons had been employed in the consumer finance industry in management with Girard Investment Company in Shamokin, Lebanon and Philadelphia, Pa., Home Credit and Barclays-American in Lancaster and retired from Invacare of Sanford, Fla. He was active in the Kiwanis Club while residing in Lebanon, Pa., and with the Lions Club in Lancaster. He played organized softball and baseball in church leagues and community organizations and was a member of Reformation Lutheran in Lancaster. He enjoyed watching and participating in sports, especially football, as an avid Penn State fan. He had a gift for one-line jokes, drawing and sang as a tenor to favorites by The Everly Brothers and The Platters. Mr. Koons is survived by his wife, Agnes Daniels Koons of Apopka, Fla.; a sister, Ella of Pottsville, Pa.; a son, Michael Koons of Shamokin, Pa.; a stepson, David Koons of Fort Mill; two stepdaughters, Kay Tobias of Orange City, Fla. and Constance Krall of Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 26, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla. Arrangements are being handled by Baldauff Family Funeral Home, which is accepting flowers and condolences at their address, 1233 Saxon Blvd., Orange City, FL 32763.
