Carelock, Lewis Junior - Heath Springs  
HEATH SPRINGS – Lewis Junior Carelock, 69, died Friday, April 29, 2016. He was the son of the late Brady and Virginia Parson Carelock. He was married to Carrie Gaston Carelock. Survivors include his wife of Heath Springs; six children, Ernestine Buchannon of Baltimore, Md.; Edward Buchannon of the home, Debra Burrs of Charlotte, Kaizel Moseley of Lancaster, Michelle Johnson and Orlando Carelock, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Walter Carelock of Lilesville, N.C.; six sisters, Mary Coxe of Lilesville, Frances King, Eva Collymore and Ernestine Carelock, all of Wadesboro, N.C., Christine Hammond of Monroe, N.C., and Betty Baggett of Polkton, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services are 1 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at Bright Light Baptist Church by the Rev. William Coleman, with burial in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Viewing is 1 to 6 p.m. today, May 4, at Stewart Funeral Home.

Coker, Johnnie Mae - Lancaster  
LANCASTER – Johnnie Mae Coker, 83, died Monday, May 2, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Johnny Jackson Small and Nannie Mae Robinson Small. She was married to the late Otis Leon Coker. Survivors include four sons, Otis Ray Coker, Jerry Wayne Coker, Tommy Coker and Randy S. Coker, all of Lancaster; a stepdaughter, Linda Roberts of Heath Springs; a brother, Bruce Small of Lancaster; and a sister, Margaret Bowers of Westville. Services are 2 p.m. today, May 4, in the chapel of Jerry L. Hartley Funeral Home, with burial at Lancaster Memorial Park. Visitation was 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at Jerry L. Hartley Funeral Home.

Crawford, Janice Arlene (Massey) - Lancaster  
LANCASTER – Janice Arlene Massey Crawford, 66, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Rosetta Ross Massey. Survivors include a son, Alfonso Crawford of Heath Springs; two daughters, Jacqueline Crawford of Lancaster and Synovia Crawford of Heath Springs; two stepsons, Larry Adams Jr. of McConnell and Torrey Adams of Rock Hill; a brother, Clarence K. Massey of Lancaster; four sisters, Clementine Meredith, Ernestine Alexander, Mary Jo Massey and Priscilla Massey, all of Lancaster; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services are 2 p.m. today, May 1, at Crawford Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Revs. AnThony Pelham and Kenneth Cauthen, with burial in the Jackson Grove church cemetery.

Croom Jr., Charles E. - Villages  
Charles E. Croom Jr., 73, of The Villages, Fla., passed away Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, at the Villages Regional Hospital. He was born Sept. 5, 1942, in Wilmington, N.C. He was employed as the outside manager of Orange Blossom Country Club in The Villages at the time of his death. Prior to coming to The Villages, he lived in Jasper, Ga. He graduated from Goldsboro High School before attending NC State. He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Croom; two sisters, Sandy Whitesell and her husband, Billy, of Atlanta, Ga., and Lynn Aycock and her husband, Charles, of Lancaster; four sons, James and his wife, Merritt, John and his wife, Natalie, Chuck and Kevin Nobles and his wife, Jennifer; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his son, Bernard Elam; and his father, Charles E. Croom Sr. of Goldsboro. His ashes were interned on Saturday, April 30, at Lancaster Memorial Park beside his wife, Cynthia Noble Croom. As he was longtime lover of golf, memorials may be made to the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation, P.O. Box 286, Irmo, SC 29063.

LANCASTER – Heyward Cunningham Jr., 81, died Saturday, April 23, 2016. He was the son of the late Heyward Sr. and Mable Barnes Cunningham. Survivors include two sons, Hazel Lee Cunningham and Greg Cunningham; and two daughters, Barbara Jean Cunningham and Stephanie Ann Cunningham. Services are 1 p.m. today, April 27, at Crawford Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Revs. Johnnie Brown and Kenneth Cauthen. Viewing is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Crawford Funeral Home Chapel.
