Phillips, Dustin Edward - Lancaster  
LANCASTER – Dustin Edward Phillips, 32, died April 18, 2016, in Austin, Texas. He was born Dec. 23, 1983, in Sarasota, Fla., the son of Gary Phillips and Christa Kay Murphy. Dustin is survived by his parents and his stepmother, Evelyn McManus; two sons, Shamus Phillips and Landen Holt; a daughter, Ariel Phillips; three brothers, Jason Phillips, Robbie Phillips and Cody Caudle; and four sisters, Chrystal Phillips, Charlice Phillips, Lana Caudle and Heather McManus. The celebration of life service for Dustin will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the home of Flomae McManus, 217 Doster Road, by Preacher Dale "Bumpy" Walters. Burgess Funeral Home & Crematory, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, is caring for the family of Dustin Phillips.

Plyler, Kim Avery - Fort Lawn  
FORT LAWN – Mr. Kim Avery Plyler, 48, died Monday, April 25, 2016, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He was born Oct. 28, 1967, in Pageland, a son of the late Harry Eugene Plyler and Gertrude Pat Jordan Plyler. He was the husband of Janet Pierce Plyler. Mr. Plyler was a self-employed contractor. He loved his family and friends and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, boating and entertaining. He was loved by the children in the neighborhood, and was affectionately known as Uncle Kim. He was of the Christian faith. Mr. Plyler is survived by his wife, Janet Pierce "Jan" Plyler; two daughters, Lisa Reynolds of Salisbury, N.C., and Karen Reynolds-Garcia of Granite Quarry, N.C.; four grandchildren, Brittani Hancock, Aydrian Reynolds, Clarissa Reynolds and Elijah Reynolds; two Godchildren, Hayden "Blu" Hughes and Raylee Hinson; three stepgrandchildren; and two brothers, Dale Plyler of Pageland and Ralph Gainey of Ruby. Mr. Plyler was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elaine Gregory. The celebration of life memorial service for Mr. Plyler will be 3 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Mike Montgomery. The family will receive friends before the service, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home; and suggest memorial contributions be made to LifeShare of the Carolinas, 5000-D Airport Center Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28208.
