Adams Sr., Donald Lloyd - Lancaster  
Mr. Donald Lloyd Adams Sr., 79, of Lancaster, passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at his home. He was born Oct. 16, 1935, in Lancaster, a son of the late Thomas Gilbert Adams Sr. and Rosalie Dowdle Adams and was the husband of Barbara Cooper Adams. Mr. Adams was a firefighter for the city of Lancaster for more than 25 years, having served as chief. Mr. Adams was a former member of the S.C. Fireman's Association as well as the S.C. Fire Chief's Association. He was a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, RA leader, Sunday school teacher and women's softball coach. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Adams is 3 p.m. today, Jan. 25, at Hyde Park Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charlie Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Memorial Park. Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Barbara Cooper Adams of Lancaster; a son, Donny Adams and his wife, Becky, of Lancaster; two daughters, Beth Ghent and Becky Mathews, both of Lancaster; two grandchildren, Lauren Ghent and Brad Ghent; three brothers, Tom Adams, Mark Adams and Dennis Adams and his wife, Becky, all of Lancaster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald "Sack" Adams. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today, Jan. 25, at the Hyde Park Baptist Church Memorial Center and other times at the home. Adams Sr., Jessie EuGene "Hurk" - Lancaster  
Mr. Jessie EuGene Adams Sr., 64, of Lancaster, passed away Jan. 21, 2015. Born July 2, 1950, in Lancaster, he was the son of Daisy Vivian Adams. Mr. Adams was a member of Pleasant Dale Baptist Church and was a former employee of Walmart, working 15 years at the Lancaster, Indian Trail, N.C., Locust, N.C., and Chester locations. He is survived by his wife, Vicki LeCee Pickler Adams; his sister; Estelle Davis; sons, Jessie E. Adams Jr. and his wife, Amanda, Philip C. Trevathan Jr. and his wife, Tammy, and Kenneth W. Trevathan and his wife, Katie; grandchildren; Philip, Carley, Madison, Will, Ayden and Bella. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Dale Baptist Church Freedom Fund. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at McLean Funeral Directors, Mahaffey Chapel, and services are 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jack Nunn officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Dale Baptist Church Cemetery. Alexander, Willie Mae - Lancaster  
Willie Mae Alexander, 89, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at Crawford Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Kenneth Cauthen will officiate. Burial will be in the Highland Heights Cemetery in Kershaw. Viewing is 1 to 7 p.m. today, Jan. 21, at Crawford Funeral Home. She was a daughter of the late Ollie Alexander and the late Robert Cruse. Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Rutledge of Charlotte.

Barr, Marvin Hough "Doc" - Lancaster  
Mr. Marvin Hough "Doc" Barr, 95, of Lancaster, passed away Jan. 21, 2015. Born Nov. 2, 1919, in Lancaster, he was the son of the late James Henry and Mary Steele Barr. Mr. Barr was a lifelong member of Hopewell United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Men's Club, Dixie Young at Heart and Wesley Sunday school class. He was also a 50 year member of Camp Creek Masonic Lodge. Mr. Barr was a World War Two army veteran, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, loved golfing and gardening. He was a retiree from Grace Bleachery as a fire chief. He is survived by daughters, Mildred Bradburn, Linda Terry and husband, Russell, and Karen Carter; son, Jimmy Barr and wife, Darlene; 10 grandchildren, Sheryl Baker, Robert Bradburn, Paul Bradburn, Rhonda Ellis, Brian Mackey, Jeffrey Mackey, Steven Terry, Deborah Knight, Kristi Ross and Chris Carter; one sister, Brite Riner; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandsons with an additional one arriving in June. In addition to his parents, Mr. Barr was preceeded in death by his wife, Catherine Elizabeth Steele Barr; daughter, Carol Mackey; two sisters; and five brothers. Memorials may be made to Hopewell United Methodist Church, 3734 Heyward Hough Road, Lancaster, SC 29720. A service is 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Hopewell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Inman officiating. Interment with Masonic Rights by Camp Creek Masonic Lodge No. 317 will be in Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery. Bell, Betty (Hinson) - Kershaw  
KERSHAW – A funeral service for Betty Hinson Bell, 82, of Kershaw, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 25, in the sanctuary of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Kershaw City Cemetery. The Rev. Tony Pope will officiate. She was the widow of James Emerson Bell and died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Julia Robinson Hinson. Surviving are two daughters, Susan Bell Hawksworth and Patti Bell Coates, both of Camden; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at 214 W. Welsh St., Kershaw. Benton, Dorothy "Dot" (Horton) - Bethune  
BETHUNE – A funeral service for Dorothy Horton "Dot" Benton, 93, of Bethune, was 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at Shamrock Baptist Church, Bethune. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The Revs. Odell Sullivan and Luke Morrison officiated. She died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Ira Boyd and Ethel Baker Horton and the widow of George Cleveland Benton. Surviving are two sons, George Tony Benton of Spring Hill, Tenn., James Donald "Jimmy Don" of Bethune; two daughters, Juda Benton of Bethune and Susan Bill of Charlotte; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Dr. Ira B. Horton of Mt. Pleasant and Dr. Carroll Horton of St. Matthews; and a sister, Margaret H. Gainey of Bethune. The family received friends Monday, Jan. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw, and other times at the home, 402 S. Peachtree St., Bethune. Donald David Finley, 80, of Kershaw, and formerly of Easley, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015. He was the son of the late David Oscar and Elizabeth Vickery Finley. Surviving are his wife, Donna N. Finley; two sons, Rick Finley and David Finley; two stepdaughters, Jodi Johnson and Ginny Edwards; a stepson, Michael Whittemore; two grandchildren; and a sister, Sandra O'Shields of Easley. Melinda Jo Malm Foley, 51, of Lancaster, widow of Don Foley, passed away Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at her home. She was born Dec. 31, 1963, in Waterbury, Conn., a daughter of Marie Olmstead Malm and the late Ronald Edwin Malm. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Foley will be private. Mrs. Foley is survived by a son, Michael Rossi of Baton Rouge; a daughter, Jessica Rossi of Lancaster; her mother, Marie Malm of Lancaster; three brothers, Dana Adams, Dwain Adams and Randy Adams, all of Bethlehem, Conn.; two sisters, Donna Collom and her husband, Frank, of Lancaster and Roni Hanks and her husband, Kevin, of Baton Rouge; and a granddaughter, Aubree Dawn Glidewell.
