Charles Travles Ray(1959 - 2014)

Mr. Charles Travles Ray, 54, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at his home.
He was born May 14, 1959, in Lancaster, a son of Peggy Sue Austin and the late Charles Wayne Ray.
Mr. Ray attended Union Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend.
He retired from the City of Lancaster. He was an avid race car driver, fisherman and supported the University of South Carolina Gamecocks and the Atlanta Braves. He loved going to auctions, but more than anything, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Ray is 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. J. D. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.
Mr. Ray is survived by his wife, Marlene B. Ray; a son, Charles Thomas "Chase" Ray of Lancaster; two daughters, Amanda Donna Ray and her fiancé, Robbie Hensley, of Heath Springs, and Lacey Nicole Ray and her fiancé, Ronnie Lee Starnes, of Lancaster; his mother, Peggy Sue Austin of Lancaster; a brother, Gregory D. Ray and his girlfriend, Sherry Wheeler, of Lancaster; two sisters, Sharon T. Ray and her fiancé, Ronald Kimbrell, of Lancaster, and Michelle Moore and her husband, Brad, of Cassatt; and three grandchildren, Daela A. Eason, Killian G. Eason and Raylee S. Starnes. 
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Hope Ray.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home, 3672 Cimmeron Road.
