Mr. Clarence Yates Laney, 89, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Lancaster Convalescent Center. He was born September 18, 1923, in Union County, N.C. and was a son of the late Benjamin Oscar Laney and Beattie Manilla Montgomery Laney. He was the husband of the late Elsie Hough Laney. Mr. Laney was a retired salesman and manager for the Coca–Cola company and attended Hopewell United Methodist Church. Mr. Laney served our great country in the U.S. Navy
during World War II
on the Destroyer U.S.S Lansdale and was a purple heart
recipient. Mr. Laney is survived by a son, Dale Laney and his wife, Jill, of Lancaster; two daughters, Wanda L. Sifford and her husband, Darryl and Debbie L. Roberts, both of Lancaster; a brother, Kenneth Wayne Laney of Monroe; two sisters, Margie Howard of Monroe and Helen Ennis of Norfolk, Va.; five grandchildren, Nicholas Sifford, Laney Sifford, Dustin Roberts, Jarrett and Jax Laney; and a great-grandchild, Khloe Sifford. The celebration of life graveside funeral services for Mr. Laney are noon Saturday, May 25, at Hopewell United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. David Inman, with burial in the church cemetery. The family of Mr. Laney will receive friends from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday, May 25, in the sanctuary of the church and suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
