Dennis Earl Cook

LORIS – Dennis Earl Cook, 64, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013. Mr. Cook was born in Conway and was a son of the late Lester Rufus Cook and the late Pauline Ray Cook. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War and was a member of Loris First Baptist Church. Mr. Cook taught at Loris Middle School for over 20 years and was a coach. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. Mr. Cook enjoyed music, playing guitar and other instruments as well as singing, cooking and playing golf. He never met a stranger, was always willing to help others and was loved by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Steen Cook of Loris; two sons, Daniel Cook and his wife, Marina, and Jim Cook of Loris; two brothers, Harold Cook and his wife, Hilda, and Ricky Cook and his wife, Cindy, of Lancaster; two sisters, Rachel Helms and her husband, Michael, and Janice Moore and her husband, Terry, of Lancaster; and five grandchildren, Camryn Cook, Kaitlyn Cook, Austin Cook, Felix Cook, and Kaya Cook all of Loris. Funeral services are 3 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at Loris First Baptist Church, officiated by the Revs. Drew Jackson, Hunter Johnson and Dr. Jim Mezick, with burial in the Happy Home cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral services in the fellowship hall.
