Dorothy Lewis Lane "Dot" Altman(1933 - 2013)

Mrs. Dorothy Lewis Lane "Dot" Altman passed away on Nov. 9, 2013, after a brief illness.
She was born in Lancaster on May 29, 1933, to Leona Cauthen and Lewis Cullen Lane. She was the widow of Henry "Lonnie" Altman. Mrs. Altman was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and for many years was the church pianist. She retired after 40 years in the insurance field and was well acquainted with everyone in downtown Lancaster.
Mrs. Altman is survived by a daughter, Donna Walden of West Columbia; a son, Rick Walden of West Columbia; two beloved granddaughters, Rachel Lane Walden of West Columbia and AnnaLee Walden of Florence; her devoted, loving sister, Becky Bowers and her husband, Richard; a nephew, Steven Bowers and family; and a niece, Michelle Jolly and family. She is also survived by an "adopted" sister, Marilyn Roddey and cousins, Elaine Monroe, Tim and Tommy Cauthen.
The celebration of life funeral service for Mrs. Altman was 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the chapel of Burgess Funeral Home. The Revs. Steven Bowers and Patrick Clark officiated. Burial will be private.
The family of Mrs. Altman received friends one hour prior to the service at Burgess Funeral Home in Lancaster. The family requests that memorials be made to HOPE in Lancaster, P.O. Box 166, and Emmanuel Lutheran Church (Food Pantry), 2491 Emmanuel Church Road, West Columbia.
