Iron Station, N.C. – Ernestine Jane Hinson Elliott, 81, of Iron Station, N.C., went to be with our Lord on Thursday, July 18, 2013.
She was born Jan. 25, 1932, in Lancaster and was a daughter of the late Ernest Orin Hinson and Elizabeth Ann Sowell Hinson. Ernestine graduated from Lancaster High School. She worked for Duke Power Co. for 31 years, Food Lion and Pitney Bowes. She had a beautiful smile and loved the Lord. Ernestine was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Iron Station. Her defining characteristics were her unselfishness and her spunkiness. Everyone knew that "she dearly loved her family and was proud of them!" Ernestine struggled with her heart condition for four years. The family would like to recognize her husband, Arnold, and caregiver, Scotty Barker, for the wonderful care they provided with unending patience and love. Her immediate family includes her husband, Maurice Arnold Elliott; her children, Carl Robinson Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Denver, N.C. and Elizabeth Ann Howard and her husband, Eddie, of Fort Worth, Texas; her brother, Gerald Hinson; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Ann; and brothers, Tommy Hinson and Morris Hinson. Services are 3 p.m. today, July 21, at Faith Baptist Church, 194 Old Plank Road, Iron Station, NC, officiated by pastor Michael Scott.
The family will gather to greet friends at 2 p.m. at the church. Entombment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 1078 N.
