Eugene W. Bailey

Devoted husband, father and grandfather, Eugene W. Bailey, 78, of Lancaster, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014.
Born Dec. 14, 1935, in York County, he was the son of the late William "Joe" Oscar Bailey Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Phillips Bailey.
Mr. Bailey was a former member of the Masonic Abney Lodge No. 211 in Kershaw, an avid Atlanta Braves fan, enjoyed refinishing furniture, working in the yard, feeding and watching birds and was devoted to his churches.
He was a member of Covenant Baptist Church in Lancaster and was an active participant in building Flint Ridge Baptist Church where he also worshiped.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife, Carol O. Bailey; daughters, Lee Anne Bailey and Jamie Broughton; sons, Warren Eugene Bailey and Robbie Moree; six grandchildren, Jenna Marie Deese and Lucas, Brett Eugene Bailey and Amber Robinson, Brittany Noel Bailey and Bailey Braxton Stroud; four great-grandchildren, Hayden, Savannah, L.J., and Brenton; sister, Ann Blackmon and her husband, Alva; brothers, Robert "Slick" Bailey, and Thomas Buck Bailey; and many more family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Gaskins Bailey; and brothers, William "Jack" O. Bailey Jr., James Richard Bailey and Harold Bailey.

The family received friends at 3 p.m. Monday, June 2, at Flint Ridge Baptist Church, 1850 Flint Ridge Road Heath Springs.
A graveside service was 4 p.m. Monday, June 2, at Flint Ridge Cemetery with the Revs. Bert Welch and Steve Neal.
