HEATH SPRINGS – Mrs. Evelyn Crenshaw Hunter, 88, of Heath Springs, widow of Jerry B. Hunter, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.
She was born July 18, 1925, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late John Crenshaw and Dessie Priscilla Brazell Crenshaw.
Mrs. Hunter was a member of Oak Ridge ARP Church and was retired from Springs Industries.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Hunter is 11 a.m. today, April 30, at Oak Ridge ARP Church with the Rev. Glen Welsford officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge ARP Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Hunter is survived by a son, Donald McCowan of Lancaster; a sister, Mazie Bailey of Lancaster; three brothers, Bill Crenshaw of Rock Hill, Doil Crenshaw and Curtis Crenshaw, all of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Casey Pardue, Kelly Bradley, Kevin McCowan, Chad McCowan and Tony McCowan; and five great-grandchildren, Tiffani McCowan, Madelyn McCowan, Taylor Grace McCowan, Tad McCowan and Caroline McCowan.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Tommy McCowan; and four brothers, Pervis Crenshaw, Travis Crenshaw, Elroy Crenshaw and Troy Crenshaw.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home of Donald McCowan, 1679 Old Hillside Drive, Lancaster.
