JEFFERSON – Mr. Larry Sims, 60, of Jefferson, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014.
He was born Jan. 22, 1954, in Lancaster, a son of the late Tommy Sims and Betty Lou Williams Sims. Mr. Sims was a member of Heartland Free Will Baptist Church. He was an outgoing individual who had a host of friends. Mr. Sims loved music and was very talented in this area. He was an excellent guitar player who loved to sing and write songs. A favorite pastime of his was singing the "Butter Bean" song to friends. Mr. Sims especially loved practicing and performing with his sons. Mr. Sims was affectionately known as PaPa Larry to many friends.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Sims is 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at Antioch Baptist Church with the Revs. Jeff Williams and Jackie Jenkins officiating.
Burial will be in the New Testament Baptist Church Cemetery in Jefferson.
Mr. Sims is survived by two sons, Brian Sims and his wife, Amy, of Jefferson and Timmy Sims and his wife, Mandy, of Kershaw; three brothers, Ray Sims, Eddie Sims and Bruce Sims, all of Lancaster; a sister, Barbara Adams and her husband, Wendell, of Lancaster; and six grandchildren, Kalsi, Molly, Jaida, Meagan, Abby and Emily Sims.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Sims; and a sister, Kathy Sims.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Lancaster Funeral Home.
