Mavis Hardin Funderburke(1921 - 2013)

Mrs. Mavis Hardin Funderburke, 91, widow of the late William H. Funderburke, of Lancaster passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at the Lancaster Convalescent Center. She was born October 5, 1921, in Lancaster and was a daughter of the late Shannon and Hattie Knight Hardin. Mrs. Funderburke was a member of Second Baptist Church and was an executive secretary at Springs Executive offices. She was the 1949 "Miss Springmaid." Mrs. Funderburke is survived by a niece, Carole Cauthen; three nephews, H.A. Barfield Jr., John Turner, and Bucky Hardin; and a number of great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Esbert T. Hardin; and two sisters, Louise H. Barfield and Hazel H. Turner. Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Funderburke are 2 p.m. Monday, April 22, at Lancaster Funeral Home-Chapel, officiated by the Revs. Dr. Brian Saxon and Larry Helm, with burial in Lancaster Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1370 Springdale Road.
