Mildred Hunter Flowers

Mildred Hunter Flowers, 90, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 at her home. She was born Jan. 23, 1922, in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late Broadus Wells Hunter and Flora Thompson Hunter and was the wife of the late Bishop Howard Flowers Sr. Mrs. Flowers retired from Springs Industries, was a member of the Leroy Springs Senior Citizens and a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was active with the former Ball Club, UMW Circle and the Choir.
Mrs. Flowers is survived by 2 sons, Bishop Howard Flowers Jr. of Lancaster, Mike W. Flowers and his wife, Peggy, of Heath Springs, a daughter, Teresa Flowers of Lancaster; a sister, Mary Virginia Hunter of Lancaster; two grandchildren, Chris Flowers and his wife, Michell, and Kevin Shute and his wife, Lana; and six great-grandchildren, Taylor, Mary Margaret and Conner Flowers and Gabe, Jonah and Dylan Shute.
Mrs. Flowers was preceded in death by three brothers, Odell Hunter and his wife, Helen, Clayton Hunter and his wife, Ollie Mae, and Shannon Hunter; and two sisters, Eva Mae 'Johnnie' Stogner and her husband, Huey, and Thelma Ingram and her husband, Frank.
The celebration of life funeral service for Mrs. Flowers will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Pat McCain, Pastor Miriam Mick and Mr. Mike Burgess. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The family of Mrs. Flowers will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. in the church fellowhip hall and suggests memorials be made to Serenity Hospice, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Suite 201, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
