KERSHAW – Mrs. Sadie Jane Chappell Baker, 70, of Kershaw passed away Monday, June 24, 2013, at her home. She was born Oct. 29, 1942, in Pageland and was a daughter of the late John Henry and Mary Leona Collins Chappell. Mrs. Baker was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church. She loved her family and was an avid pet lover. She loved to read her Bible, loved her church, her Sunday school class, her friends, and especially her cat, Baby Girl. Mrs. Baker is survived by a godson, Lee Stevens of Lancaster; two goddaughters, Debbie McEntire and her husband, Edward, of Kershaw and Becky Mills and her husband, Marty, of Lancaster; three brothers, Fred Chappell of Lancaster, Willie Chappell of Bennetsville and Jimmy Haney of Charlotte; a sister, Mary Reeves of Port Ritchey, Fla.; seven god-grandchildren; 14 great-god-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Billy Chappell, John Chappell, J.D. Chappell and Buddy Chappell; and a sister, Bennie Nelly Stevens. Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Baker are 2 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at Camp Creek Baptist Church, officiated by the Revs. Randy Mellichamp and Donald Waldrop, with burial in the church cemetery.
