MYRTLE BEACH – Steve H. Melton, 92, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Grand Strand Memorial Hospital in Myrtle Beach.
He was a son of the late Isom L. Melton Sr. and Isadora Hinson Melton.
Melton, formerly of Monroe, N.C., was born on Aug. 21, 1920, in Union County, N.C. He was married first to the late Margaret Lucille Mosley Melton and then to the late Helen Brauda Melton.
Mr. Melton was the founder and real estate broker with the Steve Melton Real Estate Co.
A service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2301 Rocky River Road North, Monroe, officiated by the Revs. Don Whitener and Ron Hanna, with burial at Lakeland Memorial Park Cemetery, 1901 Lancaster Ave., Monroe.
Survivors include a son; Melvin B. Melton and his wife, Darlene, of Myrtle Beach; a daughter, Sylvia M. Simpson and her late husband, Spencer, of Garden City; a brother, I.L. "Buck" Melton Jr. of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Verna Lee Catoe of Monroe; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers; Crayton Melton and Codus Melton, both of Monroe, and Eugene Melton and Kenneth Melton, both of Lancaster.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at Davis Funeral Home, 1003 E. Franklin St., Monroe.
