Mr. Troy Vernon "Vern" Crenshaw, age 73, died Monday, March 3, 2014, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 15, 1940, in Lancaster County, the son of the late Troy and Lillian Crenshaw.
Mr. Crenshaw was the owner/operator of a residential construction business, having built homes around the Lancaster area for more than 50 years. He was a member of Oak Ridge ARP Church.
Mr. Crenshaw is survived by two daughters, Page Crenshaw of Columbia and Courtney Peacock-Wolfe also of Columbia; a son, Colton Crenshaw of Lancaster; his grandsons, Frank Peacock and Conner Wolfe, both of Columbia; Vernon's brother, Kenneth Crenshaw of Lancaster; his nephew, Jeffrey Crenshaw and his wife, Rosalind, of Aiken; and their daughters, Vernon's nieces, Kaylee and Emily Crenshaw of Aiken. He is also survived by his former wife and good friend, Dorrie Crenshaw of Kershaw; and her two daughters, Erin Helms and Keely Helms.
Mr. Crenshaw was predeceased by two of his five children, Dr. Christopher Troy Crenshaw and Meredith Wallace Crenshaw.
The service of remembrance for Mr. Crenshaw is 11 a.m. today, March 7, at Oak Ridge ARP Church by pastor Glenn Welsford.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church social hall.
Vernon is remembered for his love of the Old West, his two-step, great craftsmanship and above all, a beautiful smile that touched many.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lancaster Children's Home which Vernon helped build.
