Mr. William "Fred" Adams, 91, died Sunday, April 21, 2013 at White Oak Manor. He was born October 29, 1921 in Lancaster County, the son of the late Jasper Adams and Edna Plyler Adams and was the husband of Margaret Walters Adams. Mr. Adams was the owner and operator of Adams Barber Shop, served our great country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Margaret W. Adams of the home; two daughters, Karen West and her husband, Clyde, and Kathy Pinyan, both of Marietta, Ga.; a son, David Prevatt and his wife, Debbie, of Leesburg, Fla.; two brothers, Bobby G. Adams and Clarence Adams, both of Lancaster; three stepbrothers, Donald, Carson and Wally; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a special niece, Carolyn Parsons Pardue and her husband, Davis, of Lancaster; a special nephew, Daniel Parsons, of Lancaster; and a special friend, Annette Adkins of Lancaster. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by three brothers, the Rev. Melvin Adams, James Adams and Odell Adams; and a sister, Myrtle A. Mangum. The celebration of life funeral service for Mr. Adams is 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013 at First Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Randy Hatcher. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. The family of Mr. Adams will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., today, April 24, 2013 at Hartley- Burgess Funeral Home, and suggest memorial contributions to First Baptist Church, PO Box 670, Lancaster, SC 29721.
