Mr. Arthur Thomas Lucas, 82, of Lancaster, widower of Carol Ann Knight Lucas, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born July 5, 1930, in Rossville and was a son of the late Loyd Lucas and Mary Ida Hardin. Mr. Lucas was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed cooking, bird watching and spending time with his family. Mr. Lucas was the official Santa Claus for Kmart for many years. He also served his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Lucas is survived by three daughters, Phylis Elliott of Liberty Hill, Kim Hudson and her husband, Ray, of Lancaster and Kathy Adams Jones of Heath Springs; three sisters, Edith Taylor, Mary Powers and Marion McNeely; five grandchildren, Mika Garris, Corey Hudson, Dustin Lanoue, Richard Harley and Tommy Harley; and eight great-grandchildren, Alyssa Garris, Hanna Garris, Makenzie Stevens, Jacob Stevens, Courtney Harley, Chelsey Hunter, Hailey Hunter and Richard Harley Jr.; four great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Betty Todd of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Jamie Stevens; one brother, Pete Lucas; and two sisters, Ida Lou Rollings and Dot Sowell. Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Lucas are 3 p.m. today, June 23, at Grace United Methodist Church, officiated by the Revs. Brian Humphries and Kathy Hudson, with burial in the Lancaster Memorial Park. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home of Edith Taylor, 2184 New Hope Road.
