LANCASTER – Mrs. Bertie Mae Langley Pitmon, age 96, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at the Lancaster Convalescent Center.
She was born Feb. 18, 1919, in Camden, the daughter of the late Steve Otis Langley and Cora Barrett Langley, and was the wife of the late William Jesse Pitmon. Mrs. Pitmon was a member of New Hope Baptist Church for over 60 years. She often traveled with them on many senior citizen trips. She enjoyed her flowers and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Pitmon is survived by three sons, William J. Pitmon Jr. of Mesa, Ariz., Carl Lee Pitmon and his wife, Glenda, of Lancaster and Tony R. Pitmon and his wife, Vicki, of Mesa, Ariz.; three daughters, Betty J. Helms of North Myrtle Beach, Carolyn Pitmon Vaughan and her husband, Chris, of Columbia and Diane H. Snipes and her husband, Grady, of Lancaster; 17 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Pitmon was preceded in death by a son, Steve Franklin "Sammy" Pitmon; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis A. Pitmon; and two grandchildren, Kimberly Ann "Kim" Burbach and Jerry E. "Eddie" Haile Jr.
The celebration of life funeral service for Mrs. Pitmon will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at New Hope Baptist Church, by the Revs. Patrick Clark, Harold Owens and Mendel Baker. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery in Heath Springs.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 31, at Burgess Funeral Home and suggests memorial contributions be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 3731 Lynwood Drive, Lancaster, SC 29720.

My sincerest condolences to the family of Ms Bertie Mae. She was a wonderful lady and will be dearly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family and may God bless.
