Mrs. Betty Caskey Bragdon, 89, of Lancaster, widow of Basil George Bragdon Sr., passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 at her home.
She was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Jesse James Caskey Sr. and Eva Mae Harper Caskey.
Mrs. Bragdon was a member of Saint Luke United Methodist Church and was retired from Springs Industries.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Bragdon was 3 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Saint Luke United Methodist Church with the Revs. Bill McCown and Dr. Eddie Usher officiating. Burial was in the Saint Luke United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Bragdon is survived by a son, George Bragdon and his wife, Pat, of Lancaster; two daughters, Marie Dean and her fiancé, Tom Russell, of Moncks Corner, and Nancy Mae Cartujano of Lancaster; a sister-in-law, Shirley Caskey of Lancaster; nine grandchildren, Diane Smith and her husband, Chuck, Nolan Dean and his wife, Dana, Beth Bragdon Curry, Melissa Dean and her partner, Connie, Paula Poston and her husband, Chuck, Paul "Eddie" Beckham and his girlfriend, Jessica, B. G. Bragdon and Ashley Bragdon and her boyfriend, A.D.; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Bragdon was preceded in death by a brother, Jessie James Caskey Jr. and a sister, Mary Nancy Hagins.
The family received friends following the service in the Social Hall of Saint Luke United Methodist Church and other times at the home, 125 Tram Road.
