LANCASTER – Mrs. Betty Usher Ghent, 72, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at CMC-Pineville.
She was born Sept. 20, 1945, in Monroe, N.C., a daughter of the late Hazel Usher and Ruth Bundy Usher and was the wife of Charles Ray Ghent.
Mrs. Ghent was previously employed as a Licensed Nursing Assistant and worked at Grace White Nursing Home. She also worked as a teacher's aide at Brooklyn Springs Elementary School. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles and loved tending her flowers. Family was the most important thing to her. She dearly loved her children and her grandchildren. She was a member of Springdell Baptist Church.
Mrs. Ghent is survived by her husband, Charles Ray Ghent; four daughters, Leticia Realmuto and her husband, John, of Fort Mill, Rita Crenshaw and her husband, Paul, and Nicole Oliver and her husband, Jamie, all of Lancaster and Heather Amidon and her husband, Chad, of Anderson; a brother, Paul Kenneth Usher and his wife, Betty, of Columbia; two sisters, Frances Fletcher and Annie Lee Atchison, both of Lancaster; 11 grandchildren, Shea Roberts, Bree Melton, Allyson Crenshaw, Jonah and Christian Crenshaw, Mallory, Madison, Summer and Joseph Oliver, and Ace and Luke Amidon; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The celebration of life funeral service for Mrs. Ghent will be 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, in the chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Donald Tillman, with burial in Lancaster Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and suggest memorial contributions be made to Springdell Baptist Church, 1420 Springdell Church Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
