Mr. Charles Dobson Taylor, 83, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at the Lancaster Convalescent Center. He was born March 17, 1929, in Lancaster and a son of the late John Davis and Leila Whitaker Taylor. Mr. Taylor was the widower of Carol "Carla" Faye Deese Taylor. He was a carpenter, having built houses with his father before going to work for Springs at Grace Bleachery from which he retired. He was a charter member of Glenwood Heights Baptist Church and loved gardening, fishing and woodworking. Mr. Taylor is survived by his son, Charles Mike Taylor and his wife, Joan; a daughter, Wendy T. Steele; three grandsons, Micky Taylor and his wife, Paula, Marty Taylor and his wife, Kelly, and Cliff Henson and his wife, Anna; five grandchildren, Emily, Ashley, Caleb, Noah and Molly; and a brother, J.D. Taylor and his wife, Lois. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Taylor; a son-in-law, Philip B. Steele; two brothers, William and Howard Taylor; and three sisters, Louise Roberts, Bernice Taylor and Carol Taylor. The Celebration of Life graveside funeral services for Mr. Taylor are 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at Lancaster Memorial Park, 1389 Memorial Park Road, officiated by the Revs. Chris Blackmon and Joe Reed. The family will receive friends following the service and suggested memorials be made to Glenwood Heights Baptist Church, 600 Nichols Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
