GREER – David Gentry Capps, 70, passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Saint Francis Hospital in Greenville. Mr. Capps was born in Easley, a son of Ann Gentry Osborne and the late Luther H. "Bud" Capps. He was the husband of Libby Nicholson Capps for fifty years. Mr. Capps worked as a Systems Manager in information services for Springs Industry in Lancaster. He was known in the southern skeet circuit as Dr. K. and was a competitive skeet shooter for over thirty-five years. He was a member of the NSSA and a Hall of Fame member of the SCSSA. He loved listening to gospel music and was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include his wife, Libby Nicholson Capps; his mother, Ann Gentry Osborne; two daughters, Jan Capps of Charlotte and Gina Smith and her husband, John, of Greer; two granddaughters, Sophie and Ava Smith; a brother, Mike Capps and his wife, Ruth, of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister, Carol Fendley Gentile and her husband, Phil, of Overland Park, Kan.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, 305 West Main Street, Easley, S.C. 28640, with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
