Deacon David Lee Stradford, 79, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013. David Lee was a son of the late Gladys Hammond Stradford and Lewis Fisher along with the late Robert Stradford. He was born Aug. 20, 1933, and was married to Mary Ellen Benson Stradford. He retired from Duke Power after many years of dedicated service. David Lee's life was rewarded with five children and four grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Benson Stradford of Lancaster; two sons, Curtis Lee Stradford and Frederick Crosby and his wife, Michelle, all of Lancaster; three daughters, Carolyn Alston and her husband, Floyd, of Suffolk, Va., Evelyn "Judy" McIlwain and her husband Eldred "Leroy", Rachel Taylor and her husband, Trent, all of Lancaster; and four grandchildren, Eldrina McIlwain, Nehamia Taylor, Makaylen Crosby and Trinity Taylor; mother-in-law, Beulah Benson; siblings, James Fisher and his wife, Yvonne, Sammy Fisher and his wife, Sally, Lewis Fisher and his wife, Viola, Ralph Stradford, Zelma Kirkland, Maggie and her husband, Abraham Simpson, Helen Ruth Crosby, Liza Funderburk and her husband, George, Terry Stradford and his wife, Maxine, Otis Stradford and his wife, Jean, Theodore Stradford and his wife, Pam, Michael Stradford, John Lewis Stradford and his wife, Janet, Cathleen Williams and her husband, Charles, Betty Jean Stradford and Dorothy Crosby and her husband, James. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 2393 New Hope Road, Heath Springs, officiated by the Rev. Willie J. Duncan, with burial in the Lancaster Memorial Park Cemetery. Viewing is from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, March 1, at Crawford Funeral Home, 410 W. Meeting St. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, March 1, at Crawford Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Fisher and Robert "June" Stradford.
