George Lee Kirkley, 93, passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at White Plains Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will follow the service in the fellowship hall.
Mr. George Lee Kirkley was born in Chesterfield County to the late Thomas Richard and Lula Rollings Kirkley.
Mr. Kirkley worked at the Grace Plant of Springs Industries for 29 years. He was a member of White Plains Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon since 1949 at Long Branch Baptist Church and White Plains Baptist Church. He also served in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Kirkley was a member of the American Legion and served as a county commissioner. He is preceded in death by four brothers, a sister and two granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife, Lola Johnson Kirkley of the home; sons, Everette Kirkley of Jefferson, Tom Kirkley of Lancaster and the Rev. Ken Kirkley (Rhonda) of Lyman; daughters, Ann Watts of Jefferson and Faye Faulkenberry ( Julian) of Lancaster; many nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
