Mrs. Imogene Caskey Berry, 87, of Lancaster, widow of the late Thornwell Alvie "T.A." Berry Sr., went home to meet her Lord and Savior Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013.
She was born Jan. 20, 1926, in Rock Hill, a daughter of the late John Edgar Caskey and Mayo Beckham Caskey.
Imogene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who loved her Lord, spending time with family, traveling, singing and completing crossword puzzels. She enjoyed her trips to the beach and shopping. He favorite time of the year was celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and helping to make Christmas a special time for others.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since she was a young child. She worked at Dr. Floyd's Pharmacy, Plylers and Mobley Drugs. She enjoyed volunteering in schools and helping others.
A private burial for Mrs. Berry will be held from the graveside.
Mrs. Berry is survived by a son, Thornwell Alvie "Al" Berry Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Columbia; a daughter, Joye Berry Schwartz and her husband, Perry, of Lancaster; her precious grandchildren, Jordan Berry and his wife, Emily, Jacob Berry and his wife Kristan, Matthew Schwartz and his wife, Brandy, Christopher Schwartz and his wife, Shelby, and Jenna Schwartz; three beautiful great-grandchildren, Mac Berry, Milly Berry and Jackson Schwartz; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Cecil Caskey, James Caskey and Billy Latham Caskey; and six sisters, Maxine Caskey Blackmon, Dorothy Olivia Caskey, Sybil Caskey Barker; Jessie Louise Caskey and Earlene Caskey Plyler.
The family received friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at Immanuel Baptist Church Fellowship Building and other times at the home of Perry and Joye Schwartz, 1032 Porter Ranch Road.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Foster Afulukwe for the dedication, concern and compassion he was shown throughout the years.
