James Franklin "Wild Bill" Garris (1931 - 2017)

Mr. James Franklin "Wild Bill" Garris, 85, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at Palmetto Health Richland.
A visitation for friends and family is from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls. Other services and interment will be private.
Mr. Garris was born Nov. 21, 1931, in Heath Springs, and was a son of the late Hazel T. Garris and Connie Pittman Garris.
He attended the schools of Blackstock and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served during the Korean War.
Mr. Garris retired from the S.C. Forestry Commission and formerly worked for Duke Energy-Crescent Resources. He was also former owner and operator of The Big Rock Service Station and was a member of Great Falls Masonic Lodge No. 277.
He is survived by one son, Jonathan "Bubba" Garris (Jenny) of Chapin; two daughters, Zan Raymond (George) of Inman and Shana Garris of Heath Springs; six grandchildren, Andrew Garris, Ashley Garris, Joel Garris, Candace Garris, Kendall Simpson and Chandler Simpson; and one sister, Shirley Barrett of Clemmons, N.C.
