MONROE, N.C. – James Henry Haston, 80, of Monroe, went peacefully to his heavenly home on Aug. 2, 2018.
He was born in Lancaster County, the son of Ruby Haston Watts and Jesse Carl Watts.
A longtime resident of Monroe, Henry served his country as part of the 82nd airborne division of the Army Air Corps.
He was a hardworking and dedicated employee of Springs Industries for 42 years.
Henry enjoyed music and created a band with his family called "The Family Circle". He also loved to go to jam sessions and "pick" music with some of his best friends throughout his life.
He was a hardworking man who could fix or build anything. He enjoyed farming and tending to his cows.
Henry was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who adored and cared for his family, especially his wife and best friend, Brenda.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Brenda Laney Haston; daughter, Annette Weed and her husband, Tadgh; son, Russell Haston and his wife, Tamra; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers; and five sisters.
Services were held on Sunday, Aug. 5 at Prospect United Methodist Church.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Rev. Mark Curtis of Hospice of Union County and the Rev. Steve Phillippi of Prospect United Methodist Church.
