LEXINGTON – Mr. James Paul Staehr, 72, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013.

He was born in York, Neb., and was a son of the late Paul Carl Staehr and Silvia Kruse Staehr.
He was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church and was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Waco, Neb., where he also attended parochial school. Mr. Staehr had 21 years in the nuclear submarine service in the U.S. Navy and retired as lieutenant commander. After his naval service, he worked for 30 years for many nuclear-related industries. Jim loved hunting, farming and his family.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Lee Gocke Staehr; sons, Ross Staehr of Granbury, Texas, and Jay Staehr and his wife, Angela, of Heath Springs; sisters, Patricia Meierhenry and her husband, Mike, of Lincoln, Neb., and Mary Beattie and her husband, Don, of Papillion, Neb.; and grandchildren, Justin and Tyler Staehr, and Matthew and Patrick Staehr.
Services for James Paul Staehr were 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, with a full military honors interment in the church cemetery.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 20, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
