CHARLOTTE Ð John ÔRobert' McDonald, 42, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2012 at his home.
He was born Feb. 26, 1970, in Camden, he was the son of Steve Conway McDonald and Joyce Carolyn Dixon McDonald. Robert was a loving son, brother and life partner to Joy Simmons of Charlotte. He was an U.S. Army Veteran who loved playing golf and loved Gamecocks and Panthers football. Robert worked at Villa Antonio's and then for Del Frisco's as a manager. He had a love of cooking and making people feel special. He was always happy and had a glow that made other people joyful. Robert loved his dogs Tanner, Toby and Milo.
A service to celebrate the life of Robert will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Lancaster Funeral Home Chapel with the Chaplain Tony Biles officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.
Robert is survived by his father, Steve McDonald of Fort Lawn; his mother, Joyce C. McDonald of Kershaw; and three brothers, Wayne McDonald and Jerry McDonald, both of Lancaster and Willie Samuel McDonald of Tennessee; and his life partner, Joy Simmons of Charlotte.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Steve Edward McDonald.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Lancaster Funeral Home; and other times at the home, 5366 Old Branch Road, Fort Lawn, SC 29714.
