Mrs. Josie Faye McAteer Coates, 78, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at Piedmont Medical Center. She was born Aug. 12, 1934, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late John McAteer and Brennie Rollings McAteer Love. Mrs. Coates is twice widowed, first to James Andrew Adams and then to John Thomas Coates. She was a former member of Westside Baptist Church. Mrs. Coates was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was caregiver for her mother, Brennie Love, for more than 30 years. The love that she showed for her mother during the time she cared for her was a godly love. When her son Glenn was serving his country, she loved to travel to the different bases to see the sites.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Coates will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Lancaster Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Glenn McAteer officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Memorial Park.
Mrs. Coates is survived by a son, Glenn McAteer and his wife, Debbie, of Port St. Joe, Fla.; a daughter, Teresa Adams Cairnes and her husband, Mike, of Heath Springs; a sister, Elizabeth Wallace and her husband, Gene, of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Edward G. McAteer II and his wife, Sandy, James Michael Cairnes and his wife, Tomeka, and Michael Andrew Cairnes; and a special pet, Angel.
She is preceded in death by two sisters, Willene Bowers and Brenda McAteer.
