Karen "Kay" Hunter Horton passed away peacefully Aug. 4, 2018, at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital.  
Kay was born Dec. 23, 1954, in Jefferson, to the late Robert Hunter and Sara Robertson Hunter.  
She grew up in Kershaw and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. She received an associate's degree in x-ray technology from Midlands Technical College. Kay worked for Moore Orthopedic Clinic for more than 40 years as an x-ray technician and office manager.  
Kay is survived by her husband, Bobby E. Horton of West Columbia; sisters, Mary (Ardell) Young of Camden and Angie (Roger) Faile of Kershaw; and brother, Robert K. (Delaine) Hunter of Ringgold, Ga.  
She was predeceased by two brothers, Ronald M. Hunter and Larry E. Hunter.  
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at First Baptist Church, 400 State Street, West Columbia.  
The family received friends one hour prior to the service.
