Mr. Lloyd Franklin Turner, 91, of Lancaster, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at Providence Northeast Hospital in Columbia.
He was born May 15, 1922, in Lancaster, a son of the late Lucius Turner and Minnie Crimminger Turner. Mr. Turner was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 53 and was also a shriner. Mr. Turner was a World War II veteran who served our nation as a soldier in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He served the people of Lancaster for years as a barber on South Main Street and retired in 1964. After his retirement, Mr. Turner was very active in helping veterans obtain their VA Benefits. He was also an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Turner is 3 p.m. today, Oct. 16 at Lancaster Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Neal officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Memorial Park.
Mr. Turner is survived by two sons, Brian Tracy Turner of Houston, and Avery Michael Turner of Lancaster; a grandson, Garrick Bryan Turner and his wife, Mae; and two great-grandchildren, Caroline and Phoebe Turner.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, L.C. Turner, Charlie Turner, Clarence Turner, George Turner and John Riley Turner and two sisters, Mary Cole and Susie Finison.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. today, Oct. 16, at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home on 417 Belk St., Lancaster.
