INDIAN LAND – Marcus Paul McCord, age 60, of Indian Land, was called home to Heaven to meet his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 11, 2014.

There to greet him were his loving parents, Paul and Hannah McCord. Born Nov. 25, 1953, Marcus grew up in the Paw Creek area of Charlotte and attended West Mecklenburg High School. After graduation, Marcus and Johnnie moved to Indian Land where they raised their family.
He retired from Duke Power after 24 years of service. He was an ordained minister. Marcus loved Jesus and the Word of God. He used most of his time and energy sharing his beliefs and the promises of Jesus's love. He would put his theological post each day on Facebook and he shared the love and forgiveness of Jesus with anyone who would listen. His message of faith and hope touched many lives.
Marcus is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Johnnie; three sons, Jacob, Nicholas and his wife, Jenny, and Jonathan and wife, Melissa; and his daughter, Michal and her husband, Neil Howie; grandchildren, Emmanuel, Dyllon, Gillian, Mychaela, Addyson, Wilamina and Madison McCord, and Alexis, Kiya, Charlee Robertson, Samantha, Dylan and Patrick Howie; brothers, Sam and Phillip McCord and his wife, Debbie, and their daughter, Hannah Ashland McCord.
The family received friends on Tuesday, April 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, N.C.
A funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at Higher Ground Church, 8365 Possum Hollow Road, Fort Mill, SC 29707. Interment is at Six Mile Presbyterian Church cemetery.
