Mary Bessie Bowers Ormand, 88, of Lancaster, widow of the late Lee Ormand, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Piedmont Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 11, 1923, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Jasper Jackson Bowers and Viola Lee Caskey Bowers.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Ormand was Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Springdell Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Adams officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.
Mrs. Ormand is survived by a daughter, Cecil Crouch and her husband, Olin, of Blackstock; seven brothers, Anderson Bowers and his wife, Louise, Eugene Bowers and his wife, Urselle, Charles Bowers and his wife, Maggie, Leo Bowers and his wife, Shirley, Ted Bowers and his wife, Amy, Toy Bowers, and Condor Bowers and his wife, Betty Kay; one sister, Mildred Duncan; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen H. Neely; a sister, Betty Allman; and three brothers, Glenn Bowers, Hermon Bowers and Benny Bowers. Memorials may be made to the Church of the Nazarene, 12 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, SC 29055.
