Mrs. Mattie Grace White Rutledge, 87, of Lancaster, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 21, 1926, in Wilcox County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Early Edward White and Eula Columbia Wofford White. Mrs. Rutledge was married to the late Fred Rutledge for 61 years.
She was a cafeteria supervisor at Springs Industries and was a member and Sunday school teacher at Springdell Baptist Church.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Rutledge was 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Springdell Baptist Church with the Revs. Donald W. Tillman and Tommy Howell officiating. Burial was in the Lancaster Memorial Park.
Mrs. Rutledge is survived by a son, Dennis Fred Rutledge and his wife, Louise, of Lancaster; a daughter, Barbara Rutledge and her fiancé, Zeddie Williams, of Lancaster; a brother, Robert "Damon" Davis of Gallipolis, Ohio; four grandchildren, the Rev. Tommy Howell and his wife, Stephanie, Mike Howell and his wife , Kendra, Kevin Rutledge and his wife, Cheryl, and Heather Boykin and her husband, Mike, all of Lancaster; eight great-grandchildren, Brandon Bowers, Natalie Howell, Justin Howell, Payton Howell, Michael Howell, Gracie Howell, Kinsley Rutledge and Haley Boykin, all of Lancaster; a sister-in-law, Matilda Rutledge of Lancaster; nieces, Wanda Daniel and family of Rock Hill and Iris Robinson and family of Lancaster.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Lancaster Funeral Home.
