HEATH SPRINGS – Mr. Max "Butch" Bailey Jr., 70, of Heath Springs, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, at WJB Dorn VA Medical Center.
He was born March 19, 1948, in Lancaster, a son of the late Max Gene Bailey Sr. and Doris Overby Bailey.
Mr. Bailey served our country as a medic in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. After military service, he furthered his education, graduated from college and worked in management in the retail industry. Mr. Bailey's last years were devoted to farming.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Bailey will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Rich Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rod Yow officiating. Burial will be held in Fort Jackson National Cemetery with military honors at a later date.
Mr. Bailey is survived by a brother, Tommy Bailey of Lancaster; a sister, Betty Hinson and her husband, Doug, of Lancaster; three nieces, Dawn Mangum, Marcia Fulton and Amanda Cook; three great-nieces, Kaycee, Kayla and Christy; and four great-nephews, Hunter, Shawn, Brad and Ryan.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Bailey; and a nephew, Mark Hinson.
