Rev. Patricia "Pat" Caldwell McCain, or "Grammie," 78, formerly of Indian Land, passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday morning, Feb. 6.
Pat was born in Washington D.C., to Dorothy Dean Black and at the age of 10 was adopted by her great-aunt and uncle, Norma and Clayton Alexander in Matthews, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Clifton McCain; and son, Curtis Clifton McCain.
She is survived by her two daughters, Joy Cleary and her husband, Ted, of Charlotte and Cynthia Hamrick of Bahama, N.C.; her son-in-law, Mike Hamrick of Charlotte; six grandchildren, Brandon Hamrick, Adam Hamrick, Chase Hamrick, Ella Cleary and twins, Evan and Reeve Cleary; her sister-in-law, Phyllis Carter and her husband and family of Durham, N.C.; all of her church families; and her furry children, Charlie, Cammi and Cutie.
Through her passion for life and commitment to her faith, family and friends, she has inspired and moved many to do great things, to be better and to know that whoever we are we are loved.
The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12 in the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church in Lancaster, 200 W. Gay Street, Lancaster, followed by a memorial service at noon in the church sanctuary.
The interment of ashes will be at 1:30 p.m. at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 238 Fort Mill Highway, Fort Mill.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Pat McCain, to Women's Enrichment Center, 720 S. Main Street, Lancaster, S.C. 29720.
